about renée
this is where i will tell you all about myself (within reason).
almost foodies was born in 2006. renée mcallister was born in 1973. (now i have to figure out what “person” to write this section in. hmm.)
i was trying to figure out how to make friends as a divorced thirty something. how does a gal make friends after a huge life changing experience? i wasn’t in college anymore and was working a day job filled with people doing their own thing. i was feeling like my generation needed a way to connect without going to a bar or paying money to join a club. this wasn’t about being single or attracting other singles to talk about being single (disguised behind food).
almost foodies is about food. it’s about how people relate to each other through food. it’s about creating a community around food.
i have a few missions with almost foodies. number one is to bring people together through food. another one is to get people excited about preparing food and actually doing it. preparing food not just for themselves, but for others. and the last part of that is having confidence in making that food and sharing it with others. i have always been amazed by potluck suppers and what people are bringing to the table and how it is presented. i want people to feel good about trying something new and sharing it with others.
my train of thought is a bit scattered here, but i’m hoping you are getting what is being said. i will come back to this at some point to re-word a few things.
almost foodies is awesome people making great food and sharing it with each other.
well would you look at that - i didn’t even talk about myself. oh honey, i will. i will.
